Mencey Fashion Rooms: Part 1

Whoever came up with the concept of showrooms must have been a genius, because there's nothing more fun than roaming the rooms of a beautiful hotel that is basically a landmark, all the while stumbling into brand handbags & accessories. If I actually went there to spend money, I'd be done by lunchtime (which is when I got there), but since it's mainly inspiration I was after, I managed to have a little fun without irreparably damaging my credit history.

My excitement aside, this June was not the first time I went to such event. No, the first time ever was the summer of 2014, which, by the way, was also the first summer that I got to spend in Santa Cruz, the capital of Tenerife. Everything was kind of strange and new and scary, but the city managed to make up for it by throwing unexpected things at me. To name a few: carnivals, city fairs, open air concerts and, most notably, fashion exhibits. The one that took place at Hotel Mencey that summer was especially tasty, like a big crème brûlée sent over by a stranger at a nearby table, while dining alone in a restaurant. I simply had no idea that I'll get to have it.

This year, however, I was prepared. I knew from a little shout-out in in my Facebook feed that this summer, June 11, it will be happening again. And happen it did. The only thing I was not prepared for was the incredible heat that took over the city that day. The dress I'm wearing looks light on the outside, but, being made of layers and layers of fabric, it actually amplified the heat that I got to "enjoy" while walking all the way from the bus station.

While some of the rooms really impressed me for their fashion value, others, on the other hand, made me feel upbeat for no obvious reason at all, except for the rush of color that seemed to go straight to my brain, like sugar.

Some of the boutiques really were amazing and left a lasting impression. If not for the things they had to offer, then for the sleek and stylish look they went with for the decor.

Having made tons of pictures (and some videos) last week resulted in a "slight" delay in publishing this post. I know, this looks like a lot, but really, I have a thousand more photos that I want to share with you. And dammit, that's what I'm going to do! Just give me a few more days. A week, tops. I swear, you will have your photos.

Stay tuned, more things are coming!
